Vietnam
Vietnam now has a standalone AI law and a digital technology law that prioritise data centres, while power supply is the stated constraint.
The Law on Artificial Intelligence took effect on 1 March 2026, with a three-tier risk system, labelling of AI-generated content and a chapter on infrastructure and AI sovereignty. The Law on Digital Technology Industry, effective 1 January 2026, offers tax relief and says the state prioritises investment in essential infrastructure such as data centres. Operating data centre capacity was about 100MW in late 2025 against a stated 372.75MW of designed capacity across 42 facilities as of May 2026, with several large projects announced. For someone seeking compute, Vietnam is a small but fast-growing market; projects are mostly announced, and grid supply is the open question.
AI policy and activity
The Ministry of Science and Technology is preparing a Prime Ministerial decision listing high-risk AI systems. AI enterprises are entitled to the highest level of incentives under current rules, per state media.
Power and grid
Reported. Viet Nam News says the hub ambition depends on securing enough power; operating capacity was about 100MW late 2025, 42 data centres had 372.75MW designed capacity as of May 2026, and a Viettel IDC executive expects nearly 600MW by 2030. No EVN or regulator figure was read.
