Argentina is using its large-investment incentive regime to attract a proposed 500 MW OpenAI-linked campus in Patagonia.

In October 2025 the government and OpenAI announced a letter of intent with Sur Energy for a data centre of up to 500 MW in southern Patagonia, valued at up to US$25 billion. It is meant to be built under the RIGI regime, which offers tax, foreign-exchange and other incentives for investments above US$200 million. The first 100 MW phase was reported for 2027. It is early stage and a letter of intent, not a built facility. For someone seeking compute, nothing from this project is available yet.
