Malta

Malta has a 2025 national AI strategy with a compute pillar and hosts a small EuroHPC AI Factory antenna, not large data centres.

Malta's realigned national AI strategy, published in November 2025, proposes 83 measures under three pillars, one of which is data and infrastructure including access to computational resources. In October 2025 Malta was selected to host CALYPSO, an EU-funded AI Factory antenna run by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority and linked to Greece's PHAROS AI Factory. It gives start-ups, SMEs, researchers and public bodies access to EuroHPC resources and smaller-scale compute. Malta is an EU member, so EU rules apply. No large data centre project was verified.

AI policy and activity

The national strategy rests on data and infrastructure, leveraging AI and advancing AI through R&D incentives, with five principles including accountability, safety and data protection. The pages read give no details on compute capacity targets.
