Bulgaria
Bulgaria has the Discoverer supercomputer and a 90 million euro EuroHPC AI Factory, BRAIN++, that will add a GPU-heavy Discoverer++ and Bulgarian-language models.
BRAIN++ is led by Sofia Tech Park with INSAIT and is budgeted at 90 million euros, half from the national government. Construction was due to begin in 2026 over a three-year project. It will add Discoverer++, which has generative AI partitions, robotics and space observation partitions and over 7.5 PB of storage, and will host open models such as the Bulgarian-language BgGPT. The current Discoverer lists 32 NVIDIA H200 GPUs in four DGX H200 systems. For someone seeking compute, EuroHPC says BRAIN++ will offer non-discriminatory access to Discoverer++, which is still to be built. We did not collect Bulgarian grid facts.
AI policy and activity
The Concept for the Development of AI in Bulgaria until 2030 is the foundational strategy, per a tracker that says it was adopted in December 2020. The Ministry of Electronic Governance has led AI policy since December 2021. EuroHPC says BRAIN++ aligns with the national strategy.
