Jamaica
Jamaica has no AI law yet; a national task force is preparing its first AI policy, with public consultation due from 11 September 2026.
A report of 16 August 2026 says Jamaica has no standalone AI law or AI-specific regulation. The National AI Task Force, chaired by Christopher Reckord, is drafting the first policy framework, covering literacy, privacy, cybersecurity, data governance and data sovereignty in the public service. The same report found no mention of existing data centres or dedicated AI compute. For someone seeking compute, there is no domestic policy support to rely on yet.
AI policy and activity
A locally built agentic AI platform, OpenJM, launched in August 2026 on about US$2.5 million of investment, citing concern that Jamaican data goes overseas.
